Alesong Wins 3 Medals at the 2022 Oregon Beer Awards

Eugene breweries have strong showing at annual statewide competition

Eugene’s Alesong Brewing & Blending won three medals at last night’s 2022 Oregon Beer Awards (OBA) ceremony, one of only a handful of breweries to earn more than one. The Oregon Beer Awards recognizes the most outstanding beers and breweries in Oregon, with professional judges sorting through a double-blind competition of nearly 1,200 entries from 123 breweries across the state to award medals in 42 categories.

Alesong took home three medals across two categories, including a near sweep of the Mixed Culture Beers category:

  • Silver for Coconut Rhino Suit in the Barrel-Aged Stouts category

  • Silver for Farmhouse Cuvée in the Mixed Culture Beers category

  • Bronze for Touch of Brett in the Mixed Culture Beers category

To add to the showing, Deschutes Brewery took home Silver for a beer made in collaboration with Alesong, Maskerade, in the Barrel-Aged Beerscategory.

In addition to Alesong, four other Eugene breweries each took home a medal at this year’s ceremony: ColdFire Brewing, Oakshire Brewing, Gratitude Brewing, and Falling Sky Brewing.

“The Oregon beer community is producing some of the best beer in the country and we’re always honored to be recognized for all the hard work and passion we put into these beers” said Doug Coombs, Alesong cofounder.  “And it’s great to see such a strong showing from the Eugene brewery community! Portland is not the only place in Oregon making amazing beer!”

Coconut Rhino Suit and Touch of Brett are currently available for tasting at Alesong on 5th within the Fifth Street Public Market (12-8pm Sunday-Thursday, 12-10pm Friday-Saturday) and at Alesong’s Countryside Brewery (12-6pm Friday-Sunday).
