Bring beer to your Holiday Table!

It feels like just yesterday we were handing out candy to eager trick or treater’s, but the holiday season managed to sneak up on us. With the arrival of December comes the time to indulge in decadent food and plenty of drink to wash it all down. We know that tradition would have you bring a nice bottle of wine to your holiday feast, but we’re big believers here at Alesong that the right beer can actually fill this role even better than your go-to Chardonnay, so this year we’re challenging the status quo and bringing beer to our holiday celebrations! Luckily, our November release came at just the right to introduce some food-friendly beers to your table.

The process of barrel-aging introduces so many complexities, and unique flavor profiles to each of our beers, leaving endless opportunities to pair them with food. This season we’ve got a full line-up of beers to complement each of your holiday dishes! Below are a few ideas to get you in the mood to pair, but we certainly encourage venturing out and seeing what heavenly matches you can come up with!

All beers are available for purchase in our tasting room—

Raspberry Parliament with a pre-meal cheese and charcuterie plate.
Our tart and fruity Raspberry Parliament is the perfect foil for creamy and rich cheeses and the raspberry flavors sing alongside any pork-heavy sausages. Don't forget a few salty pickles and almonds to round out the flavor sensations!

Four Merchants with pecan pie
Four Merchants is dry enough to balance the rich sweetness of the pie, and the subtle spices in the beer will give the perception that the pecans were roasted over an open fire with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Dessert times two!

Rhino Suit
Forget the food. This bourbon-barrel- aged imperial milk stout will stand in for dessert by itself! Or, float some cinnamon gelato in it for the ultimate beer float, and don't forget the whipped cream.

Pomme with spicy sausage and Hawaiian bread stuffing
A mixture of sweet pillows of toasted bread, aromatic herbs and medium spicy sausage will not need the addition of apples if paired with our Pomme.  Tart and refreshing with waves of fall apple flavors that intertwine with the stuffing’s complexities and richness, refreshing the palate after every sip.

Touch of Brett Mandarina with roasted beets, herbed goat cheese and orange zest
The dish is sweet, the beer is dry.  Earthy brettanomyces aromas will find a match in the herb encrusted goat cheese and the citrus hops in the beer will bring familiarity to the palate with the fresh orange zest scattered across these luscious root vegetables.

Visions and the Rosemary and Sage roasted Turkey
Light bodied and with medium acidity, Visions is the perfect beer for a heavy meal.  The tartness cuts through the fatty and rich roasted notes in the turkey, while the mild fruitiness from the Muscat grapes grabs hold of the herbs upon the turkey’s crispy skin and refreshes the palate for the next bite.

Our tasting room is open seven days a week 12:00-6:00PM! We will be closed for the holidays December 24th-25th and January 1st, so if you want to ring in the new year with some Alesong, make sure to give us a visit before 2019!
